It started out with an idea. One simple idea that I didn’t think would go much further than an essay for a school application.

I had an idea for a superhero that could speak every language.

The idea came about when I got an assignment to create my own superhero. I didn’t want to make a textbook character that could shoot lasers out of his eyes or kick people into outer space. I wanted a superhero that is kind, and uses his brains to save people.

I named him LINGO BOY.

While thinking what to write I knew I wanted to invent a superhero that was like me. I thought of the idea of Lingo because I currently know three languages. I also like to learn about different cultures and travel all around the world. Lingo was the perfect superhero for me to create.

About a month after I first had the idea for this character I decided to really bring it to life. I wanted to develop the character even more in hopes of writing a graphic novel. I am now one step closer!

The first step was to write a detailed description of him. I wanted to write something so that if someone reads it they would understand exactly who he is. It was also important to me that whoever reads it can imagine what he looks like, even without a drawing.

After I wrote the description I worked with a professional comic artist who helped me bring him to life. Coming up with a concept to development and final sketch is very time-consuming and an incredible amount of patience, but I loved working on it so much, it didn’t feel like work.

After several edits, Lingo started to really form. The next step was to develop the first storyboard and comic for him, which you can see on the official LINGO BOY site! (He’s copyrighted, so don’t even think about it!) The aim of it was to introduce the world to a new unique superhero.

I am thrilled with how everything turned out. After about a month of working on this never before seen character it’s so exciting to share him with the world.

I invite you to visit Lingo Boy’s website to see his first ever storyboard. I am very excited for the future to work even more on this character and one day publish his story!

Check out LINGO BOY here and let me know what you think!
